The daily passenger volume of Beijing subway reaches 12 million person-times, which is equivalent to 1 in 2 citizens taking the subway, forming a huge "underground city" of tens of millions.

Since the opening of the first subway line in 1969, after half a century of development, Beijing has built a safe, convenient, efficient and green rail transit system. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Beijing's urban rail transit operation lines have increased from 16 to 27, and the mileage has increased from 442 kilometers to 783 kilometers, covering 12 administrative regions and Yizhuang Economic Development Zone; The number of suburban railway routes within the city has increased from 1 to 4, and the mileage has increased from 73 kilometers to 365 kilometers. The total scale of Beijing rail transit network is 1148 kilometers, ranking first in the country. Today, rail transit accounts for 57% of Beijing's public transport trips.

Compared with car travel, one subway passenger can reduce carbon emissions by 77%. According to this calculation, Beijing subway can help reduce carbon emissions by 7.38 million tons a year, equivalent to 410 million trees and about 4 Amazon forests in total.

Network operation is super large, super strong and super complex

On the eve of the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Beijing Rail Transit Command Center was completed and put into operation, realizing unified monitoring, joint command and coordinated dispatching of the road network.

"In accordance with the people-oriented principle, we pay close attention to the travel experience of passengers in the whole process of the road network. Please look at the large screen on the right, where real-time statistics and display of passenger flow status and congestion status of each line of the road network." Liang Liang said that when there is a centralized large passenger flow early warning information at the station, the dispatcher can release travel information through mobile app, display screen and other channels to guide passengers to avoid congestion and improve travel efficiency.
Become the first choice for more people to travel
In September of this year, a total of 280 urban rail transit lines were opened and operated in 51 cities in 31 provinces (regions, cities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, with an operating mileage of 9195 kilometers, 2.81 million trains actually operated, 1.77 billion passengers completed and 1.06 billion passengers entered the station.

"All kinds of advanced shield machines are widely used in subway construction, which is more safe and efficient. Many years ago, when I was just working, I had to wait in line to change the subway monthly pass. Now it is very convenient to pay by mobile phone when taking the subway. The subway is almost the first choice for travel," Wang Wei said.
